Visiting the hygienist
The main reason for an appointment with the hygienist is to give your teeth a professional clean, usually called a scale and polish. But the most important role is for showing you the best way to keep your teeth free of plaque and your gums healthy.
The hygienist removes deposits that build up on the teeth (tartar) and will advise you on how to prevent it reforming again. The hygienist will help you to fully understand the importance of good oral health and how it can help to prevent gum disease.
At David Vaughan Dental Care all our adult members receive two dental health checks every year, two hygiene visits and x-rays as part of their membership plan.
Our dental health check covers the following areas:
- How you feel about your teeth in general and any concerns
